LITERACY FAIR
Sounding out letters to form words helped the students create their poster for our
Grade Pre K-Grade 2 Literacy Fair.

The Pre k students decided what they would like to be when they grow up.
After drawing a picture of themselves in their chosen profession,
they also drew equipment they would be using.
After drawing the equipment,
they tried to write the words associated with that equipment by using phonetics.

"P" would like to work with cats and dogs.  She will use a stethoscope, a cage for sick animals, needles and band aids.
"D" would like to be a doctor who uses a stethoscope, needle and band-aid.
"M" wants to be a Police Officer who will help people.  He will use a walkie talkie, megaphone, a police car and handcuffs.
"A" wants to be a teacher.  She will use a Smart Board, books, a computer, markers, chalk and a desk.
"A" wants to sell ice cream.  He will sell ice cream cones and cups by using a scoop to pick up the ice cream. He said they use an ice cream truck or a cart with an umbrella.  They also wear a hat and an apron.
"J" would like to be a Police Officer.  He will use a phone to call 9-1-1 when people need an ambulance.
Sometimes he will use a flashlight, a whistle and handcuffs.

"G" wants to be a fire fighter.  He will use a ladder, a hose, a phone, and a fire truck.

"N" wants to sell toys.  She will use a cash box, a shelf with lots of toys on it.  She also needs bags in which to place the toys after the customers buy the toys.

MEMORIAL DAY IS A TIME TO REMEMBER OUR FALLEN SOLDIERS

For Memorial Day, our students learned what it means to be a soldier.
I asked them to go home and ask their parents and grandparents if they were soldiers.
They were then told to ask them stories about other soldiers who we could
"remember" on Memorial Day.
